This Summer 2010 issue of Life in Clarington marks the three year anniversary of that very first issue back in Summer of 2007. We are so honoured to be Clarington’s Neighbourhood Magazine. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful community. Every issue we hear such positive feedback from you, the readers and that for me has to be the best part of this job. So, for those of you that have written or emailed, thank you for taking the time. Your feedback helps us to know what you want from your neighbourhood magazine.

In this issue we have brought you pieces on two very worthy causes, Autism and Cancer. See these articles on pages 4 and 5. Please take note of the Relay for Life in Clarington as well, in June. Every step is one more step closer to a cure and an unforgettable way to honour those who have and continue to fight. We also show you step by step how to create a serene outdoor pond in your own backyard this summer, complete with photos! Imagine the tranquility of sitting around your pond once it is complete!

We also “spotlight” the Bowmanville Rotary Club this issue and all of the great work they do here in our own community and around the world. Did you know our own local Bowmanville Rotary Club shipped 5 Shelter Boxes to Haiti after the devastating earthquake? Shelter Boxes can house up to 10 people and supplies them with the essentials needed after a disaster.

In our Clarington Heats up this Summer article you will find many great outing ideas, for right here in Clarington. You absolutely do not need to leave our terrific area this Summer, to have fun! In our Golfing article A Victim of Crime… the sporting kind, we take a humourous look at the passion and love so many have for this game. Don’t miss the contest on page 16 where you can win FREE GOLF PASSES!
